Making Ogham Staves

The two birches up at our Grove site didn't make it through the winter. I thought what a more fitting tribute to them would be to make Ogham staves out of them. From what little I've read Ogham staves are made from oak or the individual tree of each stave, so I know I'm pushing it a bit here.*p*I am trying to get an idea of the size of the staves but have had no luck.  Could those of you with staves kindly tell me their dimensions? I would need length, width, and depth.  And how were the Oghams themselves carved into the stave? Woodburning tool?  Wood knife?*p*And one more question: what is the Gaelic term for Ogham stave?*p*Thank you ever so much!*p*Stacey
