There comes *br*: a time when no matter the attempts to mainstreem *br*: them, they won't do so. Sometimes leaving them in *br*: their own juice is the only option. *p*F/|\ As I mentioned in a previous post, the spiritual community of which I am a part follows Brehon Law, and the Triads, heptads etc. *p*And yes, at the risk of sounding harsh, we practice banishment as a form of maintaining the social order. For instance, a former board member was suspected of defrauding the organization of a sizeable amount of cash. This person, when caught red handed, refused to own up or take responsibility. So. This individual was suspended and we proceeded criminally. Upon a verdict of guilty, in a provincial law court, the individual was permanently banished. We are now proceeding in a civil case in an effort to recover some of the monies stolen.*br* *br*D:*br*: There is only so much you can do at any one time, *br*: and once you have reasonably done everythign you *br*: can, it's time to let them go to do their own *br*: growing and or failing.*br*:*br*F/|\ That is always an option, but my question is, according to the Brehon laws and wisdom triads, what is right action in this situation?*br*Is the incarcerated offender considered an outsider? If they are, then are they entitled to lawful learning? *br*Or, should they be shunned, by law, as outlaws?*br*ie again, what is right action here according to the laws?*p**br*D: *br*Forgive me, but it sounds like you are looking for *br*: "justification" in the law to do *br*: something you have already unconsiously decided to *br*: do, and to me it seems that you are leaning toward *br*: NOT doing so, and are seeking a reason to cop-out.*p*F/|\ Not at all. I am looking for what the right action is, according to the laws, and in finding the right action, making a right judgement. For, a Druid must also uphold the law.And as such, I need to have sound reassurance that in entering into such a ministry that I am not contravening any of laws that my community is governed by. The laws are difficult to understand and often convoluted and contradictory, or vague- which makes it difficult to arrive at a conclusion. *p*D:*br*: So, here we go. Do it or do it not. It's *br*: entirely up to you. *p*F/|\ see above rationale.*p*D:*br* You don't need justification *br*: or a reason to do so. If you want to, many could *br*: benefit, if you are too scared by the prospect, *br*: then don't do it at all.*p*F/|\ again, see above statement.*p*D:*br* You may even think about *br*: a half and half situation where they can request a *br*: chaplin of pagan beliefs, and the full time *br*: chapplins call you to come in for a short term *br*: thing. *p*F/|\: Currently, I act as a resource person. Any deeper involvement will depend on my own time constraints. *br*Currently, I oversee the spiritual programs and teaching programs for 4 communities within the province. I am also heavily involved in developing the necessary documentation required by the prov'l govt for our org. to make a legal clergy and clergy granting status application. Further to this, we are also developing a program of study with a view to govt recognition and accredation, but that may be some years down the road as yet before it is completed. I am also a single mom, with two teens, teach confirmation handling for those interested in competing in dog shows, and care for my elderly diabetic mother, in the early stages of dementia. I need also at some time, to have sleep, and recreational time for myself as well. Part of my decision will be based on time constraints. My first obligation is always to my family and the community for which I am answerable to, and responsible for. *p*D:*br* I was an "on call" for the local *br*: county lock up, and the surrounding counties. I *br*: also was going into the hospitals and doing the *br*: same thing. It may be something you look at.*p*F/|\ We do hospital visitation here, as well as community outreach regarding education of the general public- we lecture regularly at the local college and have done public relations work with local schools and law enforcement officials. At Mean Earraigh, we will be taking part in a cross cultural event, and will have handouts on how the ancients welcomed spring...its a start.*p*D:*br*: But think about this, if you want to do it, why do *br*: you want to? Your growth, the potential benefit *br*: to the prisoners, to get in good with the cops, or *br*: because you think the Gods told you to do so? *br*: Find out and decide who makes the decisions in *br*: your life and if the benefit is worth the price *br*: you will pay for it in the long run.*br*:*br*F/|\My decision on whether or not to do anything is governed by the laws, even whether or not I believe that this is what the Gods would like me to do. Which leads me back to the original question, which is, according to Brehon Law, the Wisdom Triads and heptads, what is the right action concerning what a Druid's role would/could/should be within a prison ministry. According to the laws, is such a ministry even possible?*p*Blessings*br*F/|\*br* Re: Druidic Roles in Counseling and Prison Ministry Daven 1120 Mon - Mar 10 - 11:54am 24.65.52.189
