Re: Samhain Searles Mon Oct 5 02:16:45 1998 This site appears to be based on modern Wiccan theology and mythology. It does not consider the tides of life that flow at Samhain, nor does it involve the sacred marriage of the Bull/Deer God to the Land Goddess. It appears to be an attempt to ride the wave of modern interest in Witchcraft and Halloween activities.*p*Within those contexts, it appears to be well constructed and valid for its intended audience. I'm thinking that a Celtic Samhain would involve divination, ritual marriages of the deities, sacrifice and Ancestor reverence. There would also probaly be a recital of the genealogies and a tale of the tribal origins/original ancestor-deities.*p*In additin to that, there might be some kind of ritual where a person was sent into the brugh to receive instruction or wisdom from the ancestors at this time. There would also have been a feast lasting for three days.*p*I didn't see much of that type of thing on the site, though I did appreciate the essay that was written by Rowan Fairgrove.*p*Searles*p**br*Taliesin_2 wrote,*br*: I was using Yahoo! to find out about Celtic Archaeology.
