Re: The Fates Searles Wed Oct 14 18:11:01 1998 The function of the Fates is served in Irish myth by a variety of goddesses and seers. Among these are the "Washers at the Ford" (the Morri/gan, The Badb, and Nemain) and the "Goddesses of Sovereignty" (Eriu, Fo/dla, and Banba, among others). In addition to these triune goddess groupings, there are individual appearances of seers and goddesses as voices of destiny. These range from the banfaith Fedelm in the Ta/in Bo Cuailgne to The Cailleach as she encounters heroes during their quests. I have seen no specific mention of Fates as separate threesomes, nor have I encountered them that way, though perhaps the Goddesses of the sacred centers would also serve this function, if not the Stone of Destiny itself.*p*Searles *p*Taliesin_2 wrote,*br*: On the IMBAS recently there was a post about the Fates. In *br*: greek mythology they figure more or less quite prominently. *br*: I was wondering a few things: 1) How do the Fates figure *br*: into the the Celtic/Druidic Cosmology???; 2) If they have *br*: names in Greek mythology, what would their names be in the *br*: Celtic mythos???; If they do figure into the Celtic *br*: Cosmology, why hasn't anything been written about them?? Any *br*: thoughts or Opinions on this??? Anybody????*br* The Fates Taliesin_2 214 Sun Oct 11 16:39:31 1998
