Are there any *br*: descriptions???*p*Well, based upon what I've read in Peter Berresford Ellis' book *br*"The Druids", in the Bardic schools (and in the ecclisiastical schools which had a similar system) The Ollamh or professor carried a branch of gold with bells of gold, the An Ruth a branch of silver, and all others ranks carried branches of bronze. As to the length, I'd guestimate they would be between 4 and 6 feet in length. Also, in Miranda Greens' "The World of the Druids", there is a picture of a cult-tree found in England from 1st. century BCE/CE that had a wooden stem with leaves and stem covering of gilded bronze. Whether that later one was just for ceremonial use only or was a badge of rank, I do not know...*br*Hope this helps...*p*Aicerno OCathasaigh Of branches and rods Taliesin_2 211 Sat Oct 10 02:55:25 1998
