Battling the Gods Searles searles@summerlands.com Thu Nov 12 16:34:22 1998 Here's a message that I've retrieved from my archives. I'm considering gathering these things together into a book and calling it: _A Druid in Cyberspace_.*p*>>Why do the Gods put up with us...?<<*p*The Bros. Rees have a chapter aptly entitled "Coming Into Being" in their book "Celtic Heritage". I suspect that each race in the sagas of the taking of Ireland, represents a different aspect of the gods (as personified by their relationship/battles with mankind and each other). The gods may seemingly be defeated, even killed, in battle, yet they live again. Such is the Magick of Ireland. In our personal battles with the gods, they are not defeated, We are ourselves changed as they become a part of us and we become more Irish and more a part of the Land. The underground banquet halls of the Tuatha Dé are to be found within our spirit. The sea depths of the Fomoire are within our subconscious. The Firbolg themselves can be found, lurking within our *feel* for the earth and its nature spirits. Battle the gods and risk becoming Dé agus Andé (Gods and Not-Gods). creators of worlds, molders of humanity, more spirit than form. Most of the time, the gods live beyong the ninth wave of spirit, behind the veil of consciousness, reveling within the Otherworld. We must hear the music to walk their pathways. That is why we perform ritual. That is why we seek Draíocht. We are being created and re-created as we seek them.*p*Searles*p*
