Re: Observing Nature Searles Thu Mar 11 16:47:52 1999 *br*I can't for the life of me understand how anyone can divorce themselves from Nature anymore than they can separate themselves from reality. I am mostly a realist when my eyes are open and when they are not, I am not in this world (unless it intrudes).*p*We are each a part of Nature, a microcosm and a macrocosm. We need look only at the laws governing our own life of th ebody to see Nature at work and the effects of humanity upon Her. We can look around us and find reality at the foundations of the most properly prepared illusions and perversions, even illusions and pipedreams. The highways will last, but not for too long and then the weeds will herald the return of the trees. Even the things with a long half-life will eventually live their full lives and Nature will have Her way. We are thoughts and She is the brain. One hosts the other until a thought passes and a brain withers and then we are beyond Nature, in another world where Nature is the gift and our own natures are more in sync with gifting.*p*Live in sync or experience the friction, but whose friction and whose sync? Ah!!! Och!! That's the question. That's the rub.*p*Searles Observing Nature Beirdd 400 Wed Mar 10 21:50:31 1999
