BeingTrue Searles Sun Apr 18 11:39:47 1999 I think that the blessings and saying that *can* be properly RESTORED to their original forms should be restored. This does not mean that most of those that have survived until now should be touched by most people. I'd rather see them left alone and not changed by people who do not know the language, history and meaning of the original sayings. Only through long study and careful consideration should a sacred work be modified. I'm hoping that the original Christianizing of Pagan works was done in such a careful manner. If we do not do a better job of re-Paganizing them, then we should leave them alone. This means that we have to completely understand what they now mean as well as what they originally meant, before we ever attempt to change them.*p*IMO Wicca has done a lot of changing without the necessary study and understanding of original content. Because of this, it has changed the original practice and meaning and has become more eclectic and confused in how one branch or tradition of it relates to others. Such changing has also separated Wicca of today from Witchcraft of the past. Change is something that should follow the laws of tradition, good judgement and divine inspiration.*p*Please see my remarks about Poets and the Tale Lists in the Bards' Hall for more about the importance of such accuracy and truth in preserving and reciting our traditions.*p*Searles*p**br*Taliesin_2 wrote,*br*<snip>*br*: I would like *br*: to experience the Celtic/Pagan influence before I experience *br*: the Celtic/Pagan/Christian influence.
