To list in alphabetical order, according to author:*p*1. Bonwick, James. "Druids and Old Irish Religion". For something that was first published regarding the Irish and Druids before any standards were set for the field of Iro-Celtic studies (Or any field of anthropology for that matter. This book came out when they were using dynamite to dig up dinosaur fossils [published mid to late 1890's]). It is outstanding because stuff that liguists and cultural anthropologists accept today (Such as the indo-european root stock that the celts come from), Bonwick talks about. He's also not biased against the Irish like some if not all of his contemporaries. It's not perfect, but it is good reading.*p*2. Ellis, Peter Berreford. "The Druids" is the book to read, however if you want a good education into the early middle ages and Irish history and culture combined into a fictional setting, read his "Sister Fidelma" novels (which take place in the time span from 644-646 CE). The Fidelma novels are (and Ellis uses the nome de plume 'Peter Tremayne'): "A shroud for the Arch-Bishop", and "Suffer Little Children".*p*Good reading,*p*Aicerno Druid / Shaman Magazine Terry 518 Wed Sep 8 12:09:31 1999
