The Twelve Doors of the Soul Searles O'Dubhain Sun Apr 2 14:40:03 2000 The Twelve Doors of the Soul According to Di/an Ce/cht*p*This is the translation by D. A. Binchy of at least 7th century information about the 'Judgements of De/in Che/cht.' It is thought to be as old as Audacht Morainn and a Pagan survival in Irish Law and Medicine. It seems thet the leeches (medical doctors) of the Irish guarded their knowledge as closely as the Druids. Much of it was passed orally from generation to generation within families rather than being written down (the tales were traditions and could not be ignored due to their proliferation among the people).*p*There are twelve doors of the soul in the human body:*p*1. The top of the head, i.e. the crown or the suture*p*2. The bottom of the occiput*p*3. The hollow of the temple (temporal fossa)*p*4. The apple of the throat*p*5. The hollow of the breast (suprasternal fossa), i.e. the cavity of the throat*p*6. The armpit (axilla)*p*7. The breast-bone (sternum)*p*8. The navel (umbilicus)*p*9. The bend of the elbow (antecubital fossa)*p*10. The nollow of the ham (popliiteal fossa), i.e. from behind*p*11. The bulge of the groin (femoral triangle), i.e. the bull-sinew*p*12. The sole of the foot.*p**br*Are these places where our spirit most likely can leave the body or is this a commentary on places where deadly wounds can occur?*p*Searles*br*
