An Outsider's Observations

I'm calling myself an outsider on this one because I make no claim to be a Druid.  But I am married to one and friends with several and I've got eyes and ears and I do pay attention to things.*p*A couple of real 'home truths' in this world are that:*p*1)  What comes easy is not appreciated*br*2)  What comes free is not appreciated (or cheaply)*br*3)  Most people who say they are 'seekers' are really 'gimmies' (by that I mean, they don't want to go out and work to seek knowledge, they want to stand there and not do any work or digging and the knowledgeable one is just supposed to 'gimmie' their knowledge to them.*br*4)  What you don't work for yourself, you don't retain (even if somebody did gimmie it to you.  It's the difference between reading about how to build a fire with sticks instead of matches and actually doing it by hand yourself on a cold night in a rainstorm with no modern firestarting tools.  After you actually DO it, you KNOW it.*br*5)  When knowledgeable people give too much of themselves over too long a period of time to too many people who give nothing back in return ... they burn out.*br*6.  When knowledgeable people give too much of themselves in too many areas in too many less than optimal conditions, they become 'commonplace' and therefore easily disrespected and dismissed.*p*All that said, I think there are indeed honest seeking people out there in the world.  But, if you're talking about all the flack on all the lists and news groups, you're not playing to the percentages.  For every 100 people reading a post in an open newsgroup, you might get 1 true and honest seeker.  The other 99 definitely fall into the swine category.  And even pearls can be destroyed if they are trampled in the mud by a 99 pigs.*p*I would recommend finding a venue where you can cast your pearls and have that 1 out of 100 *come to you*.  Let the 99 others stay in their sty, let the 1 come to the oysterbed and find the untrampled pearls ... along with all the other pearldivers.*p*Just 2 cents worth from somebody who's tired of watching good people get disrespected, knowledge twisted, opportunity lost, and pearls ground into the dirt.*p*Deborah*br*
