The Divisions of the Three Worlds Searles Sun Sep 10 23:11:26 2000 Here's some more about how the directions and parts of the Cosmos shape the nature of the realms in my own system as described in my book (excerpts are available at the Henge of Keltria website):*p*The Divisions of the Three Worlds*p*I have compiled a table of the divisions into which I think the Three Worlds should be divided to assist us in developing a “casting cloth” for our Ogham Divination system. These divisions are based upon the wisdom of Fintan and Trefuilingidh Tre-eochair and many other ancient and modern sources (please accept these assignments as a guide only.... they seem to work for me, but you may have others that work better for you). These divisions are the sharp edges that I use to test the “truth” of my Ogham divinations. Please use these general assignments of characteristics to further guide your own divination efforts when casting upon a “cloth” or a “circle” (more specific meanings will be given in "The Ogham Correspondences" section of this book for each Ogham, as well as the Realms of the Otherworld/ subconsciousness/ superconsciousness). The basic qualities and attributes of the Three Worlds are described here so that we may have a better “feel” for the form, shape and color of the Celtic Cosmological canvas. The information that is specific to each Realm, Deity, Hallow, Direction or Quarter have already been provided. If you look closely, the patterns and weaves that exist between the Three Worlds and their distinguishing qualities may appear to you and guide your own steps. The Three Worlds of Sky, Land and Sea (Upper, Middle, Under)/(Past, Present, Future) are divided as follows:*p*Magh Mor (Great Plain or Skyworld)*br*Spirit of Creation (Future)*p*Sen Magh (Old Plain) - Origins and Wisdom*br* *br*Magh Findargat (Plain of White Silver) - Light and Hope*br*Magh Imchiunn (Plain of Gentleness) *br*Magh Argetnel (Plain of Silver Clouds) *br* *br*Magh Mel (Plain of Delight) - Inspiration and Creativity*br*Magh Airthech (Plain of Bounty) *br*Magh Ildathach (Plain of Many Colors) *br* *br*Magh Ionganaidh (Plain of Wonders) - Miracles and Wonders*p*****p*Bith or Mide (Middleworld)*br*Spirit of Being (Present)*p*Oithear (East)/ Sword of Nuada - Prosperity and Change*br* *br*Dess (South)/ Spear of Lugh - Music and Poetry*br* *br*Siar (West)/ Cauldron of The Dagda - Knowledge and Druidry*p*Thuaidh (North)/ Lia Fail - Battle and Determination*br* *br*****br*Tir Andomain (Underworld)*br*Spirit of the Ancestors (Past)*p*Tir na mBan (Land of Women) - Beauty and Pleasure*br* *br*Tir na mBeo (Land of Eternal Life) - Eternity and Ancient Lore*br* *br*Tir fo Thuinn (Land Under the Waves) - Fear and Perspective*br*Tech Duinn (House of Donn) *br*Tir na n’Og (Land of Youth) - Needs and Renewal*p**br*These parts of the Comos exist on both a vertical and a horizontal axis in a type of helix or spiral. The previous relationships are how each realm establishes itself. The pathways between realms are like the gateways into a yantra or a mandala. We can travel the vertical pathways between the parts of the realms in this manner:*p*Tir Andomain (Underworld) - Bith or Mide (Middleworld) - Magh Mor (Sky World)*p*Usually we can start where we are in the world of the present, the world of form and humans, and then we can journey inward/downward into realms of the past and the Ancestors. Conversely, we can attempt an upward journey into the bright world of creation, the home of the gods. Usually this type of pathwway to deity involves a present, past, future triad or a physical, mental, spiritual triad rather than a direct jouney without study, consideration and a mapping of the relationships between tradition, experience and inquiry.*p*Each of the four treasures of the Tuatha Dé Danannn represents a pathway between worlds and a doorway into states of being for us:*p*The Sword of Light - THE WINDOW OF FIND*br*Needs and Renewal - Prosperity and Change - Miracles and Wonders*p*The Fiery Spear - THE DOORWAY FROM GOR*br*Beauty and Pleasure - Music and Poetry - Inspiration and Creativity*p*The Undry Cauldron - THE WELL WITHIN MUR*br*Eternity and Ancient Lore - Knowledge and Druidry - Origins and Wisdom*br* *br*The Stone of Destiny - THE GATEWAY ABOVE FAL*br*Fear and Perspective - Battle and Determination - Light and Hope*p*The Sword and the Spear are positive acting forces in our lives. They manifest change within each realm no matter what our orientation is of can be. The Stone and the Cauldron or passive influence for us. We can choose to seek their gifts but each treasure requires us to take an inward journey of discovery or renewal. The first two seek us in a cycle of change while the other two maintain us with a constant source of being. Fire balances stone and wind stirs the seas.*p*These are the plains that we must travel in our quest for foreknowledge and divination. These are the worlds of our consciousness. Within each Land, the Hallows and the hazards have been defined as well as the rewards and the opportunities. There are many other ways that these relationships can be utilized and honored. A study of tradition, combined with willingness to experience can be the beginnings of our answers to questions about mysteries.*p*Searles
