Druids Created the World Searles Fri Nov 10 13:20:46 2000 Druids Created the World*p*"By the wisest druids was I made before the world began, And I know the star-knowledge from the beginning of Time."*br* *br* - The Words of Taliesin -*br* *br*'Star knowledge' is presumably cosmology, physics, astronomy and astrology. *br* *br*I think the sense of the word is in the primary definition as found at http://www.dicyionary.com.*br* *br* cre·ate (kr-t)*br* v. tr. cre·at·ed, cre·at·ing, cre·ates.*br* *br* To cause to exist; bring into being.*br* *br*The Druids 'claim that they themselves created heaven and earth and sea, etc., the sun and the moon, etc.'*br* *br* - Senchus Mór 1.22, Ancient Ireland -*br* *br*What does it mean when the Druids say that it was they that created the world? How can we be Druids in today's world so that we can exercise this power? What would we create?*p*The "Bed of the Poets" is one place where such a primal awareness and creation would have occurred (and still can occur) between the poet-seer and his/her imbas. The connection to illumination while in a noinden of darkness and laying between the earth and the focus of the "memory stone" is another traditional art that would be good to discuss and learn. The ritual preparations, sacrifices and techniques of such a mantric/mantic undertaking is also a part of the missing knowledge that is necessary to the task. *br* *br*The deeper meanings and implications of these statements regarding what these questions say about Druids, their practices and their beliefs is what I was originally asking. What does it imply when the Druids said these sorts of things? What would we mean today if we said such things?*p*To me some of the answers to these questions create more questions and answers. Maybe creating a worldview reestablishes creation for us? Maybe each day is a day in a new world? Perhaps it's possible that we can recreate the world through our own inner changes rather than by outward actions?*br* *br* I look forward to debating and discussing what we would create if we had the powers of Druids. I think it might be a painful effort for us because there seems to be a certain amount of built in conflict and struggle when giving birth to anything (even children, writings or worlds themselves). It's been my observation that in the Celtic and Druidic worldview, one must give up something in order to receive anything in return. What are we willing to do in order to be or become Druids? What efforts will we exert in order to create? What is the price of success or the cost of failure? Along the pathways that we are following in search of answers (and more questions), what are the milestones by which we will become known, evaluated and appraised?*p*A night and a day are all of time. What is the moment in which creation occurs?*p*Searles*br*
