Re: The Young Son and the Sun's Standing Searles Fri Dec 22 14:16:16 2000 I think it's also important to note that the current month is Dark Month in the Celtic/Druidic Calendar (regardless of what my Javascript is saying on the Crossroads page:-). IMO it's significant that two events can be considered to have occurred at this time. The first is tha Bo/ann released the light of knowledge from the Well of Segais so that it streamed into the world. Those who seek knowledge and enlightenment would do well to drink of the stream and trace it to its source so that theu can become immersed in knowledge. This is the Well of Segais which is within the Sun Brugh at Newgrange. The second event is very like the first. It is the birth of Angus to Bo/ann and the Dagda. The signal for this event is when the Sun stands still while illuminating the birth chanber of the Sun's return (also at Newgrange). Both mythological stories relate the release of birth waters to new beginnings; one in the birth of knowledge and the other in the birth of a new Sun/Son.*p*A word of caution: though some tales and folklore seem to support these attitudes about the year and the festivals we observe right now, let me caution each of you that these are my *personal* ways of considering and observing these times. I think they are close to the ways that our ancestors observed the changes in the heavens and on earth. Unfortunately, not enough of the ancient lore has been uncovered to conclusively prove that this is *the* way that such things were observed. No matter the opinions of others, may you rejoice in being a part of Light and Life at this time of year!*p*Searles Re: The Young Son and the Sun's Standing TopazOwl 770 Fri Dec 22 12:27:44 2000
