Lugh and The Dagda in the Hall of the Serpents Searles Sat Mar 24 14:27:08 2001 Here's a brief introduction to one of the Lunar Houses that I use in my own approach to Druidic Astrology:*p*The Feasting Hall of the Fomorii*br*(Tech Míodhchuarta Fomorii)*p**br*The Fomorii are the untamed deities of chaotic creation. They are primal forms of power, energy and magic. It is the job of the Samildánach to harness them through his mastery of all arts. The Dagda and Lugh are divine examples of this phenomenon. They are the masters of Draíocht and the gods of Druids. As such, the Druids are the human representatives of such many skilled beings who can direct the primal forces of Nature for the benefit of the tribe. It is no mistake that the Druids were called 'Nadders' (nathrach or serpents) by some. It is also no mistake that the power from beneath the earth is considered to be serpent or dragon power in Celtic tradition. The Dagda, Lugh and Ogma recover his harp and the gray cow from this feasting hall, resulting in the death of nine Fomorii warriors when the harp springs from the wall. This recovery or regaining of lost treasures from the halls of the Fomorii is at the root of Draiocht. When we touch the power within us, we are not gaining anything that we did not already have. What we are discovering is a power that we once wielded (though perhaps in another world or life). The journey to the Feasting Hall of the Fomorii is a rite of initiation and danger for those who are being reborn into their eternal spirit and essential nature. Like The Dagda, we must approach this journey with humility yet we must also possess the skill to name and call out to our inner harper and power. Without this ability and training, we would be trapped forever, 'away' in the Otherworld.*p*Searles
