I'd love to share my thoughts. I
actually wrote this in my journal on the bus ride home, while the memories were still
fresh. Of course, you get it with out the tearstains that my copy has.
As we slowly drive away from Roan Mt. the pictures and memories keep playing in my mind
like a favorite movie. The ncredible feeling of coming home when we got to the mountains,
and the uncertainity as we waited at the bus station. Would we recognize the person who
came to take us to Roan Mountain? Then seeing Searles and knowing who he was immediately.
Then seeing DebbieG waiting outside. The breathtaking scenery as we drove to the
campgrounds. Meeting Deborah for the first time and hugs, lots and lots of hugs. Meeting
TopazOwl, Bear, GreyWolf and the rest. Then scenes from the different things that we did.
The Baptists driving up during the opening circle. Dan falling down the mountain
into the snow, but he knew what he was doing don't you know. Watching the faces as each of
us sampled the drink that Alex brought, and watching through watery eyes as everyone
laughed at my reaction. Not at me, but instead with me. Staying up and talking girltalk
with Debbie. The conversation while waiting for the bus station to open which made James
and Melvin blush. Their memories are just as vivid. Climbing to the top of Roan, or
almost. Hiking with Rick and Terry. For James, meeting Searles was the bomb! He loved it.
One more thing before this gets too long, "it is now 6:00 in Belguim, and he's sooooo
cute." We love you Caolainn. We are already making plans to be at next years
gathering and just know that each and everyone of you holds a very special place in our
hearts.
With love,
Treva, James, and Melvin |
