Re: Building Community in a Digital Age Deborah searles@summerlands.com Tue Sep 29 15:37:05 1998 I know that I've always found true friends (and even a great husband - GGG) online. In many cases, the fact that you cant see the other person makes it easier to communicate... and get to know each other in the first place. You have no preconceived prejudices as to gender, race, age, appearance, nationality or geographic location. It's a form of 'pure communication of inner beliefs'.*p*On the other hand, there are some real *$$#0!@$ out there too, who use that anonymity to create some fantasy ego who has no relation to the reality of who they are in this life. I think that you have to let you spirit stand as 'gatekeeper' over those types. Listen to those little niggling feelings and look at everyone with an open and honest eye. (rose colored glasses are never really a good idea... in cyberlife or in the 'real world'). Best to go for honesty.*p*Deborah Building Community in a Digital Age DebbieG 124 Tue Sep 22 02:50:35 1998
