With Liberty and Justice for ALL Searles O'Dubhain Sun Jul 4 01:23:09 1999 Here are some sentiments that our ancestors would agree with and defend with their lives (in fact many of them did).*p* Searles*p**br*Greetings,*p*Two hundred twenty three years ago a group of people signed a document that*br*began one of the most famous experiments in history. This experiment is*br*still going on, it is called Liberty with Freedom and Justice for all.*p*Today a group of elected officials have decided that these words apply only*br*to persons who are members of one religion, one creed. They believe any who*br*choose to follow other paths are not deserving of the basic freedoms*br*American holds dear. *p*They would destroy two plus centuries of work Americans of all religions*br*and creeds have put forth, working shoulder to shoulder in the field and in*br*the factory. They would ignore blood shed on countless battlefields from*br*Concord to Kuwait, lives saved in hospitals and on battlefields by medical*br*personal and blood transfusions where religion or creed of the provider or*br*donor was not ask just gratefully accepted.*br* *br*Our diversity is what makes America strong, not the narrow single-minded*br*thinking of persons like Rep. Bob Barr and Sen. Strom Thurmond with their*br*desire to make all in the military, indeed all in this Nation fall down and*br*worship the Deity they follow.*p*Yesterday, in his Fourth of July message, President Clinton made a clear*br*concise statement. These Freedoms are for all Americans regardless of*br*religion, creed or origin.*p*He stated, "We have only to look at the recent tragic events in Kosovo to*br*recognize how blessed we are to live in a land where life, liberty, and*br*equality are cherished rights, upheld by courts and custom, and where, *br*as we realize more each day, our diversity is a source of strength rather than *br*a cause for division." *p*He continued by looking forward to the next millennium with the following*br*statement," On this day, as we look back with pride on our heritage of*br*freedom, let us look forward as well with renewed hope for the future.*br*Enjoying the fruits of a robust economy, the stability of a country at*br*peace, and the talents and energy of an increasingly diverse populace,*br*America is poised to lead the world into a new millennium full of fresh*br*opportunities and challenges."*p* The Witches Anti-Discrimination League (WADL) salutes President Clinton*br*for his Leadership, and commitment to the principles Our Country was*br*founded on. His open and forceful statement that diversity is the law of*br*this great land and so shall remain supported by his office and ,if*br*necessary, the courts.*p*Let us remember today, the only way to preserve the Rights and Freedoms*br*President Clinton spoke of is through the ballot box. *p*Today, July 4, 1999, groups supporting Rep. Barr and Sen. Thurmond have*br*vowed to register one million (1,000,000,000) voters who will vote as they*br*are told. We must also register voters who will vote against those narrow,*br*repressive peoples, their dogma, and for progressive, positive leadership*br*of this Nation, " With Liberty and Justice for all".*p*Steve Foster*br*President, WADL. *br*4 July, 1999*p**br*Permission given to forward as desired*br* http://journey1.org/webring.htm Witches Anti Defamation League Webring http://journey1.org/whiterose.jpg
