dhkbarr@ibm.net Scots Gaelic Mac Albannaich dhkbarr@ibm.net Sat Dec 4 04:58:03 1999 I really like this site, I just happened by after seeing it mentioned on the Nemeton mailing list.*p*Anyway, my question concerns Scots Gaelic. I know that of course the epics like the Tain were written in Old Irish, but I also see a lot more Modern Irish among Druids than I see Old Irish. Which is fine, no problem. But... I'm a Scot, not an Irishman, and I'd much sooner learn, and use in ritual, a language that my ancestors spoke much more recently than Irish, Old *or* Modern.*p*Is there much material out there? I'm thinking of things like dictionaries (especially Pagan-friendly ones), the Ogmios Project (whose Scots Gaelic link appears not to function, at least at the moment), and so on. I've slowly been attempting to translate one of the original ADF rituals written by Isaac Bonewits, putting Scots Gaelic on the Irish of the ritual as given. Don't know how wonderful my Gaelic is, but I sure like the feel of it. Plus, [grin], using Gaelic means I don't have to translate all that lovely poetry in the Carmina Gadelica.*p*Any other Scots Gaelic types out there? Or folks who could give me a link or two to follow? Any help most welcome.*p*Beannachd nan diathan oirbh,*p*Doug
