Re: Pagan Bumperstinkers BlueDreams BlueDreams66@aol.com Sun Mar 12 00:45:25 2000 *br*That was some serious food for thought indeed! Though I've not been guilty of it myself, at least when I can stop myself in time :), I know some young ladies new to the Wiccan path that have a lot to offer, and to these little ones is where this message needs to go and so it will. They feel persecuted and feel it right that they should retaliate in just such a way. Perhaps these wise words will show them how to raise themselves above that, and help the rest of us remember that we are responsible for how we treat others. Of all faiths! Blue*p**p*Deborah wrote,*br*: I think it's very interesting how people tend to see what *br*: they focus on. I've noticed rather the opposite trend (or *br*: at least similar trends) between the two religions. As a *br*: balance to your bumperstinkers I offer the following ones *br*: that I've seen over the years.*br*:*br*: On the Pagan side:*br*: The Goddess Is Alive and Magic Is Afoot*br*: Magic Happens*br*: The Earth is our Mother, Treat Her With Respect*br*: Goddess Bless*br*: Follow Your Bliss*br*: Blessed Be*br*: We're Everywhere!*br*:*br*: On the Christian Side:*br*: Every Knee Shall Bow; EVEN YOURS*br*: In Case Of Rapture This Car Will Be Unmanned (which shows me *br*: a great disregard for fellow travelers on the highway)*br*: God Hates Fags*br*: Pray Now or Pay Later*br*: Repent or Burn*br*:*br*: Of course you also have the very 'in your face' Pagan *br*: stickers such as:*br*: Abort The Religious Reich*br*: It's Your Hell... YOU Go To It!*br*: My Goddess Gave Birth To Your God*br*: Doin' My Part To Piss Off The Religious Right*br*:*br*: As we were discussing in the Pub the other night, I think *br*: part of the Pagan 'in your face' mentality is part and *br*: parcel of the same type of thought processes and actions *br*: that we've seen over the years from other 'minorities', the *br*: civil rights movement, the gay rights movement, the women's *br*: rights movement... and now the Pagan rights movement. Being *br*: nice is great when you can do it, but sometimes you have to *br*: 'kick the closet door open' because that's the only way the *br*: people on the other side of the door who are trying *br*: desperately to hold it shut will ever let it get open at *br*: all.*br*:*br*: There will come a time when the playing field has been *br*: leveled and all religions can stand on even ground and equal *br*: rights. I greatly look forward to that day. At that point *br*: I think you'll see many more of the positive bumperstickers *br*: on both sides and very few of the bumperstinkers being *br*: displayed by either.*br*:*br*: It's a pendulum swing. For many centuries it's been waaaaay *br*: too far out of balance to the right. Now it's swinging back *br*: to the left. It's our job to ensure that it doesn't go too *br*: far in the other direction. A pendulum will continue to *br*: loose strength with every swing back and forth, but can *br*: cause a lot of pain and damage during that running down *br*: process. I think our job is to stop it at the bottom of the *br*: arc and hold it in a place of balance where both sides of *br*: this particular issue can have a safe and wonderful *br*: place/way to worship.*br*:*br*: Deborah*br* Re: Pagan Bumperstinkers Deborah 519 Sun Mar 12 00:21:41 2000
