BlueDreams66@aol.com Billy (son of Blue) update... BlueDreams BlueDreams66@aol.com Fri Apr 14 14:49:26 2000 I sure miss you guys! Well, the worst is over for now. Billy went in and had his cath done the 6th. He has an upper ventricular defect, the wall dividing his upper ventricular chambers has a big hole in it that never closed up. This allows blood to pool in the chamber, not to mention the oxygen issues. The cath was to determine if the excess blood had been moving to the lungs, bad, bad! Very serious! It has not. He will need surgery within the year to keep this very thing from happening, possibly May or June, it's tentative. They were able to go through a vein and not an artery, so other than being stir crazy for the 12 hours it took, (8 flat of his back), he was a real trooper. Within an hour and a half of getting out of surgery he had his nurses so charmed he scored two scoops of orange sherbet, a roll of lifesavers and some juice to boot over the course of the day. Not only does he defy the expected recovery rate, he has not a single bruise, (they said to expect a massive bruising of the entry area), and nary a flutter of blood pressure out of place. They will have to go into the chest to repair the wall as there is not enough tissue to properly place a balloon or the newer 'umbrella', but will rather have to build him one? I'm looking into that more. We will know more in a couple of weeks when the results of the cath are diagnosed. *br* For now, color us all well in the House of Fludd. Back to normal, whatever THAT is <grin>. See you all when you get back from your trip. Enjoy and light a candle, do a jig and have a laugh for me!*br* Elayne
