Hey footlight,*p*I havent done a lot of work with sounding from a mantra point of view.  I've done chanting at a few ceremonies with good effect.  But mostly what I use to carry me on sound waves is a drumbeat.  You find the silent point where the waves roll back on themselves and 'poof'... you're GONE.*p*However, I did find a book or three on the subject in our Summerlands Research Library.  The one that seems to speak most directly to your question is _The Harmonics of Sound,Color & Vibration:  A System for Self-Awareness and Soul Evolution_ by Elias DeMohan  0-87516-411-0.  Have you read this one.*p*Searles knows more about this subject as he uses chants/mantras alot more than I do.
