Re: New Comer Needing Advice Searles Sat May 18 13:47:49 2002 Might I suggest that you go out and do physical work each time you are angry. That way the energy will be directed toward some things that are constructive. Another effective exercise is to limit each fit of anger to a predefined time span. Start with maybe five minutes and work your way down from there. Eventually you will be able to change the anger into a peaceful moment. You can do this with distracting thoughts as well.*p*Of course anger is an emotion and emotions are beneficial to some things in the physical world. They sometimes aid survival and health. OTOH the mind is able to transcend the physical and the emotions that communicate with it. Might I suggest that you isolate yourself from reminders of the physical world while trying to do mental or spiritual workings (at least in the beginnings of your efforts)? Once a space or safe harbor develops from your meditations and mental exercises, you will be able to more effectively inhabit that sphere of safety even while under attack from the outside or being assaulted by the emotions on the inside. *p*I believe this place of calm within is what develops for those who master the martial arts and who excell in other forms of competition or combat. Whether a battle is physical, emotional, mental or spiritual, it always helps to be able to dwell within calmness, clarity and safety while taking the necessary outward actions for physical safety and continued well-being.*p*The short answer is to make peace and calmness your center and then you can best handle the turmoil and conflict that trys to dominate you in the outer or the inner worlds.*p*Searles*p*Kelly wrote,*br*: I have just started reading the history and *br*: beliefs of the Celtic people and the Ogham *br*: teachings.
