Re: Witchcraft, Lycanthropy, Drugs & Disease (Review) Infiniti Sun Oct 11 03:09:37 1998 It might just be me, but I seem to be getting the impression you didn't like his book. <G> A point and a half? I've been know to feel bad after giving book ratings like this and given points for the nice covers the editors chose. I found this book in my local library, which totally astounded me, since my local library is smaller than my house (small town). I read about half the first chapter, then promptly drove back to the library to return it. IMO, this book made me long for the days of Hitler and his book burnings...*p*On a slightly different but similar note; other than on this board, I have little experiance with pagan histories as they pertain to the Inquisition and such, and I have this question that has been driving me nuts for about two weeks. I have been running around the net and keep running into sites about the Burning Times and the like, and even one place with an extensive list of names (from the 9 hundreds right up to present day)(also included was Joan d'Arc, oddly) and I have to know, where does the information come from? I was under the impression that the Church did most of the record keeping during much of this time, and I doubt, given how much _some_ pagans absolutely despise the Church, that it would release information to be used as the the match to it's own funeral pire. Then, again, that might just be my poor understanding of things.*p*: As a historian, I found Dr. Sidky's contempt for my field *br*: profoundly insulting. As a Witch... ooh, this man made me *br*: want to take up cursing!*p*Amen! Oops, wrong term - flashback to childhood, sorry. <G>*p*Michael Witchcraft, Lycanthropy, Drugs & Disease (Review) Jenny 46 Fri Oct 9 12:14:21 1998
